18/01/12 Tormywheel Wind Farm time extension granted

West Lothian Council’s Development Management Committee today approved our application to extend the time period for commencement of the construction of Tormywheel Wind Farm from 5 to 7 years.

This time extension to June 2014 will allow us to move forward with resolving the effect the wind farm could have on radar systems at Edinburgh Airport and Lowther Hill.

According to our current timetable we expect to begin construction on site in mid-2013.

12/09/11 Application submitted to extend time limit for construction

We have now submitted a Section 42 application to West Lothian Council to extend the time period for commencement of the construction of Tormywheel wind farm from 5 to 7 years. This time extension is required to allow us to resolve the effect the wind farm could have on radar systems at Edinburgh Airport and Lowther Hill.

On 1 June this year, we held a public information event in the Fauldhouse Partnership Centre to update residents on our plans for Tormywheel Wind Farm. Twenty people attended the exhibition in total and ten feedback forms were received. Nine respondents supported our Section 42 application and one respondent had ‘no view’.

If you would like to comment on the application please contact West Lothian Council’s planning department, quoting planning application PPA/400/220.

24/05/11 Exhibition to update residents

We will be holding an exhibition in Fauldhouse Partnership Centre on Wednesday 1 June 2011 from 2-7pm to update residents on our plans for Tormywheel Wind Farm.

Since we received planning permission for the wind farm in 2007, we have been working to meet our planning requirements.  One of the planning conditions limited the time for the start of construction to 5 years.

We would like to extend this period to 7 years to allow us time to resolve a radar interference issue at Edinburgh Airport and Lowther Hill.  We intend to submit a Section 42 application to West Lothian Council to allow us until 7 July 2014 to satisfy our planning conditions and start construction.

We will be consulting residents on this application at the exhibition.

Members of the development team for the wind farm will be available at the exhibition to answer any questions, and we'll be providing more information on this website shortly.

08/06/07 Tormywheel Wind Farm approved!

We are delighted to announced together with our partners in Scotland, PM Renewables, that our 15 turbine development near Livingston in West Lothian has been given the go ahead.

The wind farm was turned down at local authority level but the Scottish Executive have overturned that decision following a public inquiry.
