Windmills of Lincolnshire Book, by David Jager

Windmills of Lincolnshire, by David Jager

We are pround to have assisted the publication of this book, published by The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire.

Since prehistoric times, people have harnessed the power of the wind - first for water transport and later to power machinery, and grinding or milling cereals to produce flour.  The book provides an excellent account of the history of windmills in the County, detailing the 10 windmills preserved and working today, and photographs and information on more than 120 sites with surviving remains.

To find out more about the book, go to The Heritage Trust of Lincolnshire website.    To order a copy of this book, email info@lincsheritage.org (retail price £19.95).

03/07/07 Project now in appeal for 'non-determination'

After three scheduled West Lindsey District Council Planning Committee meetings ended in deferral over the past nine months, we have decided to appeal for non-determination, and the documents were filed last week. This means the Government will now appoint a Planning Inspector to decide on the project and that it will be up to the West Lindsey District Council to defend their indecision.   We had three separate recommendations for approval from the Council's Planning Officer, but it was becoming more apparent that the Councillors in Gainsborough were unable or unwilling to decide.
