24/01/08 EU says Britain should supply 15% of energy from renewable sources by 2020
The European Commission has agreed on a far-reaching package of proposals to fight climate change and promote renewable energy. At 2% Britain has the third lowest supply of renewable energy in Europe but some of the continent's richest resources.

22/11/07 4th IPCC Report says Climate Change "unequivocal"
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its final report last week. The Synthesis Report forms the final part of "Climate Change 2007", and is the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report in a series of reports assessing current climate change trends and global warming. The report recognises climate change as “unequivocal”, and sees human activity as largely responsible. to see a summary of the main points. The IPCC report will be launched at the UN climate change conference in Bali on the 3 – 14 December.
15/11/07 Climate Change Bill Published
The Climate Change Bill is a legal accountability framework to help reduce our Carbon emissions and meet carbon reduction targets. Its main elements are:
- to make carbon reduction targets, to reduce CO2 emissions by 60% by 2050 and 26% to 32% by 2020 against 1990 levels, legally binding.
- the introduction of 5 year carbon budgets and reports
- the creation of a Committee on Climate Change to investigate if the 2050 target should be strengthened and report on including aviation or shipping
The Bill is scheduled to have its second reading on the 27 November 2007 in the House of Lords. For the full document -
15/10/07 Wind Industry to Agree New CO2 emissions savings
The British Wind Energy Association is reviewing the methodology of how to calculate CO2 emissions savings with the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), after a previously agreed calculation was overturned by the ASA.
Neighbours Receive £5,000 for Energy Efficiency
Getting a wind farm built at Parham, Suffolk during 2008 is progressing well, and as a close neighbour to the Parham Airfield Museum, we are proud to help them improve energy efficiency by replacing old render which is causing a damp problem in the building. The Air Museum is housed in an original wartime control tower, and relies on volunteer support and donations to help with maintenance of the building and exhibits.

20/03/07 £50,000 from Wind Farm launches Burton Latimer Community Fund
Approximately one year after the blades started turning at Burton Wold Wind Farm, the first payment has been made to launch the Community Fund - a benefit scheme for energy efficiency and education initiatives in the local area. The first two projects underway are installing solar panels in sheltered housing to provide residents with renewable energy for the building's communal areas, and an information station about the wind farm and energy efficiency located in the Customer Service Centre in Burton Latimer town.

A study from University of St Andrews shows that opposition to wind farms arises partly from exaggerated perceptions of likely impact, and that those with wind farms in their area do strongly support them.
3/10/05 Platina Finance, Santander Private Equity announce interim close of second
dedicated wind energy fund at 27million
Platina Finance Limited ( Platina ) and Santander Infraestructuras FCR, a Madrid-based
infrastructure fund managed by Santander Private Equity, have reached an agreement
for a strategic partnership in the financing of wind energy projects. As a result, Platina
has reached an interim close at 27m on Mistral Windfarms I Limited Partnership
( MWF ) after six months of fund raising activity.
